OUTDOOR ADVENTURE UPDATE -Bye Bye Caruther's Cyn.

For many 4WD enthusiasts, one of the most anticipated and appreciated trips is the Mojave Road. The scenery is spectacular, the solitude is refreshing, and the history is amazing. If done properly, the trip should last several days, as there is so much to see. Since dispersed camping is permitted in the desert, there are an almost unlimited number of great spots to call home for an evening campsite. One of the best and most popular sites has been Caruther's Canyon. Not any more.

Sadly, the York fire in the Mojave Desert in July and August of 2023, burned a huge swath of prime desert, destroying more than 77,000 acres. Caruther's Canyon was a victim of the fire, and everything in the canyon, including some spectacular buildings as well as all the campsites, were burned to the ground.

In a disturbing coincidence, in the last 30 years, this desert has seen more than it's share of destruction from wildfires. Here is the latest:

Today's add to the discussion will cover a product spotlight; the UpLULA® universal pistol magazine loader 9mm – .45ACP. There are other loaders made by Maglula that add to the universality of this pistol magazine loader as well as others designed for different applications.

The Maglula pistol magazine Uplula has been a favorite range addition among my friends and acquaintances. It has served us well over the course of several NRA Women on Target shooting clinics, where loading magazines quickly, between shooting strings, was necessary and it saved the ammo resupply point volunteers sore fingers.

I recommend getting a color that is bright and easy to identify from a distance. These loaders are a hit with other shooters and sometimes, while being shared from shooter to shooter, they get "misplaced." If you want to keep track of your loader, get a color you can easily keep track of and if you can stomach it, a color that no one is fond of.

By the numbers:
1. Place the loader over the top of the magazine, properly oriented.
2. Squeeze the loader and push down on the follower/currently loaded round.
3. Place the next round in the space provided.
4. Release your squeeze, reset and restart the sequence until the magazine is full.

What happened in 1974 making 2024 the 50th anniversary?

https://www.thearmorylife.com/limited-s ... 1a-rifle/?

Well, the M1A happened. It was the descendent of the first T1E2 rifle that was ultimately designated the “Semiautomatic Rifle, Caliber 30, M1" in 30-06 and truly "clip" fed. This rifle was better known as the M1 Garand of WWII. The M1 Garand later gave rise to the T44, its replacement, also referred to as the M14 in 1957. It wasn't until 1974 that the M1A was developed and made available for civilian use bringing all the attributes of the original M1 Garand into the mid-20th century with some new developments (7.62 x 51mm NATO, select fire and box magazine fed).
