A GOOD ICE CHEST ?
A GOOD ICE CHEST ?
Anyone out there have an ice chest they feel works well. So many of them these days have only a thin layer of foam insulation. Appreciate your comments.

There are a couple of very good ice chests on the market. I have had very good luck with the Coleman Extreme and Ultimate Extreme coolers. I have had ice last for over a week in 80 and 90 degree temps. The best performance I have had, in a cooler that is rock tough, comes from the IRP company. See http://www.irpoutdoors.com/html/outback.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . These coolers out perform anything else when it comes to durability and size. They also have exceptional insulation allowing ice to last for more than a week. If you are on a hunting trip, camping trip or a long range expedition and you have a moderately large group, the only way to carry enough food for the group is to have a cooler of this size. The ice will last over a week and the units are nearly indestructible. The freezer frig units are great but they are all limited to relatively small sizes.
One additional advantage of the IRP coolers is that they allow the use of dry ice which can extend the life of the ice by several days

As a guy with a cooler fetish (just ask my sponsor) who owns all shapes and sizes, the Coleman Extreme is the one you want for regular use that does not cost big bucks.
Re: A GOOD ICE CHEST ?
I also have the Colmen extreme. I works great.

Re: A GOOD ICE CHEST ?
I have a Coleman Extreme and I like it.
However, in October I'm going on a 8 day trip. I need to keep food for 1 person cold.
Can the Coleman Extreme do this for 8 days?
What is the best setup for ice to keep it cool? A large block of ice?
Of should I get an Engle?
