The primary reason for the upgrade is to get our system on the current revision level. I can then make changes to the system and future upgrades will preserve those changes. For example, when I remove the post count from the member list, that change will not be undone when we upgrade the system again.

In addition to this, it is important to keep the system updated with general and security fixes to the system. I am not testing the system to make sure it is secure, but the project leaders of the software project are. We are benefitting from their work to improve the system and make it safe from hackers.

If you would like a list of specific changes that were made to the system with this upgrade, let me know, and I can post the change log for you to see.

Why are you going to remove the post count from the members list? Will it still show our posts on our profile and under our avatar?

Sorry Big Dave, I meant to say "if". There have been requests for several changes to the forums, and that is just one of the requests that came to mind. I have not been directed to make this change. However, I was just using that as an example of a change that would not be overwritten by another update to the system.

In the members list only, right? Ive been part of forums that got rid of the post counts, and activity died down significantly. I highly recommend against removing post counts.

I'm not sure if Ollie has brought it or not Ken I was wondering if it would be possible to give each post in a thread a number?

This numbering is helpful when attempting to identify a specific post among very long threads.

Thanks.

Actually, I think it was Larry that requested that. I'm going to lock this thread so the issues don't get lost in it. Please post new requests as a new topic. Thanks.
