One item I forgot to mention is a catalytic heater. They cost about $45.00 and can make life very cozy for you and your wife. When I have my wife with me I just turn it on a few minutes befure were ready to go to sleep and she get's to enter a 70' environment even if its 20' outside. :D Oh yeah, I like it too.

I borrowed a catalytic heater from SunnyGrill at Calico, and it sure made getting into that tent a much easier time... I'll be picking up one of these before BorregoFest, I think... ;)

Larry:

October is not usually a month that requires a heater in Anza Borrego. An AC might be more appropriate.

Don't burst his bubble like that. He needs a reason to buy it, and BorregoFest is as good as any! :D

Oh, the Mrs. will be at home, relaxing in the reclining couch, watching the big screen, snacking on goodies, happy in the knowledge that somehow I reap joy from roughing it with you guys out in the desert...

so, basically, she doesn't care at all.... :D

Hehe, we do the same thing.

I've had 7x7 Coleman which has lasted for years, so if you're goin' for a less expensive tent, I'd go with a Coleman. Although its still in good condition, I think the wifey would be happier with a larger one. And good call on replacing the tent stakes.

As for shopping at REI, well I've heard that they're anti-OHV. But maybe someone else is more knowledgeable about that than I am?
