Dishpan and John Bull

This last Thursday we ran Dishpan springs and John Bull west to east had a great time of the 5 Jeeps 3 of us climbed the waterfall with ease. one of us tried his darndest to get up the waterfall with open diffs got close bur couls not quite make it.



One of us found a couple of nice rocks to get stuck on on John Bull, still if he had chosen a different line he would have made all of John Bull with open diffs, It's definitely harder to run it west to east, but then that is what makes it more fun

Yup must have ingested about a pound of dust. for that a closed cab and ac is a definite plus

Looks like everyone had a good time...Big Bear is an awesome area for wheeling, but with so little rain, it's as dusty as the desert...cough, cough...

Wow that video looked cool. Is that climb doable in a FJ with a 3" lift and 33`s? Is that the hardest part of John Bull or does it get worse? I drove by the entrance to John Bull when we were up there doing Gold Mountain I didn`t have the nerve to try it wothout asking about it first. Gold Mountain was a bit more then I thought it would be. I could probly do a better job on it now that I have been on it once. Nice Pics by the way also. I`m looking forward to my next trip up to Big Bear.

It's kinda like this if you can comfortavly run every side trail on Cleghorn road, try Dishpan, if your TJ has front and rear lockers you should be able to climb the waterfall a jeep is shorter and when locked doesn't have to many problems. John Bull is easier to run east to west but the other way around is more fun. John Bull is quite a bit more challenging than gold mountain but then on a week day with some patience a bit of spotting and maybe use of a winch here and there it should be no problem, I have run it several times with a small group and it doesn't take us much more than about a hour and a half to run it. Also a good intermediate trail is 2n61y and from there heartbreak ridge, its out in the sticks but fun to run its harder than gold mountain but not as challenging as John Bull would make a great stepping stone for you.
Dishpan is not to bad once you either climb the waterfall or use the bypass, if you use the bypass go far lefft then turn hard right stay as far right as you can then cut hard left again when you look at the video watch the light blue TJ it kinda explains why. Or follow the sequence of this Jeep that took the easy way
