Was this over by the Volcano Hills? We were looking for a plaque in that area for someone that died years ago. I think this was it, but we turned around before finding it. He was part of the 4wd club at Solar Turbines where Steve and I work.
I don't know how you came up on that drop-off in BW's first video (with my speaker hanging from my bumper) but that plaque was located on a rock about 200 yards back down the wash through a slot that got us up to that drop off. It was literally 5 feet from my driver's door when I got out to scout ahead and didn't even notice it until I was going to get back in the truck from scouting the slot.sdnative wrote:

I use TOPO 4.0 for my import/export. I will try to convert it using my Mapsource software and see what I get.sdnative wrote:I cant seem to import the file for some reason.Ollie (K6JYB) wrote: Here is the GPX file for our run:
I am using Garmin MapSource 6.14.1 and 6.12.4
We came in from S2, and ended up turning around after going up and down that hill. We really wanted to find that plaque because of it's significance to our employer. I think we'll end up going back out there later this year to that same area.Ollie (K6JYB) wrote: I don't know how you came up on that drop-off in BW's first video (with my speaker hanging from my bumper) but that plaque was located on a rock about 200 yards back down the wash through a slot that got us up to that drop off. Thanks Ollie. It just said 'cannot import' when I tried to open it with Mapsource.Ollie (K6JYB) wrote: I use TOPO 4.0 for my import/export. I will try to convert it using my Mapsource software and see what I get.
Well, I think he was part of the company 4wd club, and had a heart attack out on the trail. Not sure of the exact detail, as it was way before I worked there, so I'll let Steve give us some history.raYGunn wrote:So whats the story of Mike Piepkorn? A quick Google produced nothing of value.
