2008-10-05: BrregoFest PreRun/Mega-Run

We came in from S2, and ended up turning around after going up and down that hill. We really wanted to find that plaque because of it's significance to our employer. I think we'll end up going back out there later this year to that same area.

Oh, you were right there, Eric. I'm in on going back there later! We also found another really interesting trail in the area that we'll have to get together on.

Damn John... The last video you added to the end of your post really doesn't do the actual moment justice until I'm through and you shoot down the drop-off. Even then it looks easier and safer than it was.

Hey, thanks. And I know! For a second I thought for sure we were done for! And we gotta get back up to #150 sometime!

Well, I think he was part of the company 4wd club, and had a heart attack out on the trail. Not sure of the exact detail, as it was way before I worked there, so I'll let Steve give us some history.

I knew Mark since the early nineties. He wasn't very old and seemed in good health. A little wild sometimes - he drove a full-sized lifted F-250 through the "Squeeze". It wasn't a pretty sight!!! I wasn't out with them when he expired. I think I would have really freaked out. We did put the marker out there a short time later in his memory.

It iss a really nicely done plaque that was laser etched out of stainless. Looks like his loved ones visit the spot pretty frequently too.

I will point you in the right direction for that ledge I hugged around but I do not think I'll be attempting that again. That was a MAJOR mistake that could have cost me/us dearly. Once we were confronted with it we could not back up.
