2008, May 31st --- Cleghorn & 2n17X ---So. Cali

Post by BoBoNel » Wed May 07, 2008 11:42 pm

Saturday May 31st
Meet at Trail head about 9ish........hit the dirt around 9:30ish
Trail head is located right off the 15 freeway....CLEGHORN EXIT i'll post up maps and detailed info later or google it. :)

I've never done the 2n17x trail but it was suggested that we do this trail after Cleghorn. They are in the same area. Cleghorn is an easy trail (easy to moderate depending on how the winter snows dug it up) with a bunch of off-shoots of more difficult side trails........it keeps criss-crossing.........(am i confusing everyone yet?)

camping saturday night I reserved a camping spot at SILVERWOOD LAKE. let me know if you are camping for sure. 8 people max, 3 vehicles (although i'm sure theres outside parking that can accomodate our vehicles)

i also have a thread started over on fjcruiserforums.com
i'll update this post with more info later (its getting late and i'm tired)

I`ve never done 2n17x either is that the one that goes to Arrowhead? I saw some pictures of this trail and it looks pretty exciting. Guess we will find out in a couple of weeks.

im waiting for suggestions on camping as i have never been up in that area before and i only did 1/2 of cleghorn due to deep snow conditions.

any suggestions on camping? i think mcjeep answered on the other forum with a state camping area. i'm going to do some research this weekend but if anyone else knows of an area just post up. i'm open to suggestions.

I think there are a couple of campgrounds near hesperia will see if I can do a search for it. One might be Hesperia lakes or something like that. Here you go there are several around Hesperia Some of them are fairly close to Silverwood lake.

Or really for the proposed plan it might be better to camp in the Lytle creeck area then drive up to Cleghorn road do that run
and from there take the 138 east for a little then take the 173 east to Silverwood lake recreation area and do the 2n17x trail.
Once that is finished you can take the fire road 3n34 to lake Arrowhead to do Dishpan springs or turn on Hook creek road south this will connect you the 173 hwy and then the 18hwy which leads down to San Bernardino the 10fwy or the 15fwy
Hope this make sense

How about camping Holcomb or Barton Flats, perhaps Green Valley Lake?
