New Trail Backside of Otay

Post by dionysius » Sun Nov 02, 2008 7:14 pm

Went to see what's new in Marron Valley with all the work going on out there. First, the ridgeline road has been widened and graded to support the heavy machinery there. Here's the view coming into the valley

Image

The fenced area is a new helo pad and a reservoir for water. Possible new support for fire fighting? This is the view from the new trail that was the old pack trail

Image

This is the new trail now on the backside of Otay (facing Mexico)

Here's a new view into Mexico from the trail

This is how close you are to Mexico, the benchmark, which you can almost touch without getting out of the jeep

I need to check that out. Maybe I'll take a jaunt out there next weekend. Thanks for the report. ;)

Ollie, the weekend's a good idea, don't try it during the week. It's busy with construction then, I found that out a month ago. The BP have been waiting for this trail to better do their job. There ain't no fence in this area.

Notice the highway, that's not in the US.

Yay, a new trail! Thanks for posting this. That trail sure cuts in close to the border!

Denis,

Do you have a GPX file from this trip that you could attach to your first post?

Did you run this trail with your Jeep or your Rhino?

Hi Ollie, I ran it with my Jeep. Didn't use my GPS as the trail is pretty much easy to find. I don't know what the recent rain has done, probably made it more interesting.
