2008-12-22: Anza Borrego VW Toureg Tour

I'm absolute noob in off roading, but i've been dying to take my Touareg off-roading

Hopefully one of the next trips will be open to public

About 98% of the Anza Borrego trails are absolutely safe for your Toureg's capability. If things work out I'll try to set something up early next year before the wife pops.

At the point where Vallecito Wash meets Arroyo Seco Del Diablo, Frogeye had the privilege of being stopped by a California Highway Patrolman. You read it correctly, out in the middle of absolutely nowhere, Frogeye got pulled over by the CHP for, get this…………. "driving off the highway”. Since Frogeye was getting dusted out in the back, he pulled out to the left of the group in this wide wash (not speeding) and the trooper decided that he was driving off the designated road. The trooper let him off with a warning but it made for some interesting conversation during the rest of the run.

Funny, my boss was out there that day and saw you guys and the CHP. Did they use their sirens? He said he heard some sirens. Small world.

No sirens... He just stepped away from his truck into the middle of the group and flagged Frpgeye down. What was your boss driving??? There were several Jeeps out there.

Small world indeed. It was good to see Ollie as I passed through Julian enroute to Ramona. They were stopped next to the highway. Looks like a great trip.

Nah, he was in a minivan. He had some kids and they were camping out at Agua Caliente and took a run over to see the mud caves.

Mudcaves in a minivan? I wouldn't want to be out there alone in one of those. Good thing is that area is fairly popular on the weekends.
