Some fun during Thanksgiving

Post by gon2srf » Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:45 pm

My mother-in-law lives in Hinkley, CA on 150 acres bordering BLM land. There is lots to do and see out there and this time of year is ideal. It rained quite a bit out there this past Tuesday making the roads great for wheeling and the visibility felt infinite. We also did some urban play as well.

There is no trail here, we were out making one.

We hit the dry lake and the conditions were great.

More to come....

looks like some ideal times and conditions!!

is that hole in the ground just from run-off, an old mine shaft of sorts or a comfy den for some animal such as a friendly pig? interesting.

It's an old mine, sorry we did not take more pictures, we've seen it many many times. It only goes back about 50 ft. and is very large contrary to what the picture leads you to believe.

We got to do both Larry, my sister-in-law laid out quite a feast and I think there were 14 of us. Leaving my mother-in-laws house and getting on the road qualifies for "wheelin' and it helps that my nieces and nephews love heading out and exploring.

Pole Line road. If you're ever in horrible traffic on the 15 coming back from Vegas you can take this road west from Calico Ghost town all the way to the 395.

Great pictures! Lots of unique photo ops. Garrett's grown up even since I saw him last. Looks like good family fun.

Thanks for all the comments guys and gals. We'll have to put together a run out at the mother in law's house, it's really close to Calico and there is a ton of fun stuff to do. For you gun aficionado's, you can fire away anywhere out there. The dry lake is commonly used as a firing range.

FYI- G-Dog is now 6'3" and growing. I buzzed his hair the day before Thanksgiving so that's a fresh #3 look. He's a good kid, I've been blessed!
