Lot's of snow in the high desert

Post by gon2srf » Wed Dec 17, 2008 10:35 pm

I have been on the phone with my mother in law several times today. She lives just north of Barstow and they have 1-2 feet of snow now. She is literally stranded at home and my nephew and brother in law are also stuck but at work. None of them own 4wd vehicles and live in a very rural area where the roads do not get plowed. I wonder if the city even owns a plow....? There elevation is only 2200ft. :o

Yeah, this has been an amazing storm so far. Even in my area, the temps are going to be around 30 tonight, and we are at about 1600+ feet - they're saying snow down to 1500 feet, so if it rains tonight, we could get snow, too ( ).

Ironically, my younger son just got in town for the holidays from school in Pittsburgh, wher it's been in the 20's and rainy / snowing for weeks (his first east coast winter). And now he comes home to sunny southern California - NOT !!! :o

Well, the elevation was low enough, and the temperature was low enough, but we didn't have any rain last night, so no snow.

One side of my FJ was completely covered in ice this morning, though...
