I have one also and use it whenever I do an off-road race photo shoot. It really gives my wife peace of mind when I am south of the boarder for several days when no communications are available.
I love it and it has made going into the out and beyond feel a bit better and easier knowing help is but a button away.

I highly recommend it for all those that go outside of Cell range.

They are having a $50 MIR right now:

I was in a west marine store today, and they were had a 10% off electronics coupon going today and tomorrow (Sunday). Plus if you sign up for the basic service, you also get a year of the tracking service free.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me....

I have one of these and use it every time I go out. It's awesome and feel safer having it along. I keep it in a pack on my drivers seat along with other emergency supplies in case I need to bail.

I think its time for me to look into getting one of these. The wife wasn't too happy with me rolling in at 6AM from my night run. Ollie was telling me about this during our BorregoFest prerun. Cool stuff!

Not sure yet if it was the SPOT or the SAT Phone... but this was arranged and executed in under and hour in the Big Bear area with no cell service.

Just got my Spot last week - they offer insurance to cover the cost of an extraction for up to $100,000 for $7.94 for the year when you purchase the Spot - another no brainer, IMO...
