Heart Break ridge snow run

Post by aw12345 » Sun Jan 11, 2009 12:36 am

Well we had been wanting to go play in the snow in the Big Bear area and we figured that by now it would be do able, so the goal was to get to Heartbreak ridge fron 2no1. Once we got to the entrance of 2n01 from Hwy 38 it was too icy to run without snow chains and not everybody in the group carried snow chains so we drove up to Baldwin lake and enterd on 2no2 which was icy also but rutted so much safer to run. Still quite a bit of snow out there, once we made it to 2n61y it was nothing but virgin snow and trail blazing the stuff was powdery and up to 2 feet deep in places, loads of fun plowing through it. We made it 2/3's of the way up the heartbreak ridge trail which had even deeper snow in places, by that time it was getting a bit late so it became time to cut the playtime short and head on out. All in all a great day in the mountains with good friends and wonderfull scenery
