I got my FRN in ought two. Back then, after processing your application they would eventually print out a letter and send it to you through the U.S. Postal Service. :D

Technology, it's a good thing.

I hear ya... Now it is just an email. You hit submit and the next number in the database is assigned to you and sent to you via email.

We are currently trying to reserve some space in the parking lot in front of Bass Pro to set up our tent, the banners, maybe a radio, and reserved spots for some of our rigs. We can treat this like a meet and greet as well as the test session. Besides, I could spend an entire day just browsing in Bas Pro as it is...

Since March marked our one year anniversary we can also treat this a sort of a anniversary celebration as well. ;)

I'm ready to go.... :D

It would be great to have a group of trucks to show the Bass Pro shopping crowd, so hopefully we can entice a good turn out for the test session...

Who's put this on their calendar already ?

Unfortunately I had to drop out of the Parashant trip but on the plus side it does allow me to come down to the meet and greet. I can set up the Pinzgauer like I would for traveling. If we're lucky we should be able to monitor the location of the Parashant group on APRS from the on-board computer.

Now there's an idea... Talk about another way to sell the idea of Amatuer Radio... The rig I will be setting up is the FT-897. Matbe we can get one of you Generals or Extras to try some HF DX-ing too.

BTW... did I mention this was already on my calender??? :P

Hey, Bruce - sorry you won't be able to make it to Parashant, but I'll be glad to see you at the testing / meet & greet at Bass Pro Shops...

I'll have APRS running, too, so we can put on a demo for local folks, as well as monitor the guys in Parashant...

Should be fun... :D

Well, I decided against testing for my general as I know I'll never really use it. However, I may still show up for the event just for the camaraderie and to explore the vast Bass Pro shop.

I've only received a few confirmations from folks wanting to test. I hope to get some more just before the test date as people who have been studying feel prepared. It looks like it's shaping up to be a pretty good event regardless of how many people show up to take a license examination.

BTW - It is NOT necessary to send a confirmation if you are planning to take a license exam. The only reason I asked is that it would be good to know how many people to expect so that we can have enough VEs on duty to grade the exams and process the paperwork.
