There's Kennedy Meadows or Fish Creek, just at the southern-most tip of Sequoia, only a couple hours outside of Los Angeles (up the 395 to J41). Big trees, very mountainous, and the Sherman Jeep Trail has plenty of rocks and tight spots between trees.E-train wrote:How about a place with big trees where you can feel the Spring time? Is there a place like that around here with good trails and group camping that might be a little different than Big Bear and Summerfest?
The negatives are 1) far for San Diegans, 2) I only know of 2 other challenging trails, 3) the drive to trails from camp could be 30 to 45 minutes.
