Extraction Equipment

Post by Brucek » Fri Jan 16, 2009 9:13 pm

Ollie suggested I create a spot to discuss equipment that we use to get our butts out of trouble, so here is what I came up with for the net of the same name on the 15th of January. Please remember that most of these things require some amount of knowledge to safely work with to prevent injury to yourself or your vehicle.

Winch, both hydrolic and electric
Hi-lift Jack and it's accessories: Jack kit, offroad base, jackmate, jack isolator, lifting pin replacement kit.
Bottle jacks and stands
Carpet strips
Sand and bridging ladders
X-jack by Bushranger
Pul-pal
Clevis'
Transport cluster or combination bridle
Receiver shackle bracket
Pulley blocks
Choker chains
Snow chains
Max tool or Hi-lift shovel
Tree straps
Extension Ropes
Strapes
Kenetic energy ropes

Please contribute your favorite homemade or "off the shelf equipment" for removing yourself from sticky situations. Don't forget to include how you use it and where you got it from if it's a little known piece of gear.

I think a good 4-5 ton cable comealong can be pretty handy also to aid in righting a flopped or rolled vehicle when iots hard to get another vehicle with a winch near it. Pull pall or a strap and a good comealong would make this a piece of cake
