San Diego Backcountry: 3-21-09

Post by BorregoWrangler » Sat Mar 21, 2009 10:41 pm

So I heard DFG say that there are wild turkey west of El Cap in the Cleveland Nat’l forest. Well, it seemed like a good way to see how the old Jeep was running so I headed on out through Barona Mesa, just south of Ramona to see if there were any roads the penetrated the area. There were, but they either just ran out or were blocked by a gate. I may explore a few other options on sunday. Anyways, here's a few pics from where I went. It was a nice day out today.

Look like a beautiful area. What area is that with the stone tanks/walls?

un-related question I have a stock 2007 fj Cruiser and I have now had two bad encounters in which my stock bumper has bottomed out. Will I gain clearence if I get a wench type bumper? In both instances I didn't have a enough time to react to a good size dip in the road. My bumper came into play before my wheels.

Some of the bumpers will give you a lot more clearance especially where the tires are, which makes it a lot easier to get your tires on the obstacle you are trying to get up on or over
