2009-05-16: Otay Mtn Tour
I've been getting requests for a run up Otay Mountain again. So it's time to plan one before my daughter arrives in June. I will be bringing my son (nearly 4 yrs old) on this one. This is a great rip for beginners since it offers easy to medium terrain depending on what you want to do. This trip is mostly for an opportunity to see some spectacular views (weather permitting) and enjoy the company of your fellow outdoor adventurers. THose in fear of shelf-roads beware because it is nearly all shelf-road.

Hey Ollie, put me down as a maybe for this one. We'll just be getting back from Florida the day before so if I can work it out, I'll be there.

Ollie, I was out there today. The new road around the backside of Otay has really moved along nicely. Quite the engineering task, it's almost all the way around to the west side.

Glad to see you're still lurking here sir. It's like they're building a freeway out there.

Re: 2009-05-16: Otay Mtn Tour
Yeah it's quite wide. I was in the Jeep, Chuck and I were checking out the progress on the new road. The laydown yard for the construction looks like they're getting ready to put the border fence in, plenty of steel there. Saw a bunch of cattle down there now too. Maybe its barbecue time.
For your adventure on the 16th, I'd recommend skipping that area if there's a crowd. The cliff areas are unstable, lots or rubble sliding. Wouldn't want a replay of that one Azusa trip when someone got hit by a falling rock.

Yeah... I wouldn't take a group down there. Probably stick to the mountain.dionysius wrote:Yeah it's quite wide. I was in the Jeep, Chuck and I were checking out the progress on the new road.
