May 28, 2009 Weather Spotting II

Post by taugust » Sat May 30, 2009 9:16 pm

This week's net topic was Weather Spotting, part II. My guest was Miguel Miller, National Weather Service Forecaster and Weather Spotter Program Manager. The net originated from my moble radio station outside the National Weather Service forecast office in San Diego, due to technical difficulties with the NWS station.

Since our Outdoor Adventures often take us to remote places with little or no shelter, being able to recognize the potential for severe weather is very important and could be critical to survival. Miguel Miller and I discussed how to recognize incoming severe weather, from snow, wind, heavy rain, flooding, to lightning and tornados. We had 26 check-ins and the net lasted 90 minutes.
