Amateur Radio QSO Party

If you are out and about June 13-15, 2009 (next weekend), be sure to try operating the 2009 ARRL June VHF QSO Party.

The idea is to work as many amateur stations in as many different 2 degrees by 1 degree grid squares as possible using authorized frequencies above 50 MHz.

We are well situated to work in the Rover category and it is an excellent opportunity to see just how far you can communicate via simplex operations.

The information and rules for this contest are available on the ARRL website with this link http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2009/june-vhf.html

A useful grid square map is available here http://www.icomamerica.com/en/downloads ... tegory=181

I am certain you will be pleasantly surprised at how far you can actually communicate. There is no need to devise some elaborate setup(although some have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oymXGzm21Jo ), simply go out and find a nice hilltop and get on the air.
