A day at the range

I have been contemplating the purchase of a handgun for quite some time now and had previously discussed my options with SSC. Steve invited me out to Rahauughy's range in Corona, CA to show me a few of his personal favorites. When I arrived Steve had a couple of targets set up and began to show me the basics. Steve brought along a large selection of pistols and revolvers and had also invited two of his freinds (Dennis and Rob)to bring along some of their favorites as well. Little did I know that through out the day I would have the opportunity to shoot a dozen guns whose net value probably exceeded well over $40,000. Besides having a great time and hanging out with some really nice guys I happen to be in the presence of some excellent marksman. I really learned a lot.

Looks like a great day. I wish I could have met up with you guys. I was looking for you and asked around at the Bass Pro Shop M&G, although I didn't expect to find you as I arrived pretty late. I even brought the guns.

Well, did you make a decision on what you want to get, or at least narrow it down? A day at the range is always fun, isn't it?

Scott, I am glad you came out and had a good time. More important, I am glad you learned from your time with us. You are always welcome to come out and we can have you shoot a few stages of the IPSC course. Eric, I was hoping to see you, next time. The offer to come out and shoot is open to any of the members here--Yes Larry that includes you . We will have just about any type of weapon anyone would like to shoot.

You willl have a good time, and joking is allowed--we have fun, but rest assured safety is number one. I hope Scott chimes in, but we stress safety first and keep a close eye on our shooters to ensure they are safe and have a good time. This includes muzzle awareness and finger off the trigger. This includes being a dedicated range officer, where we watch the shooters fingers to make sure they don't get a bit high on the slide--a bloody mess or too far forward on a revolver so as to get hurt with blast from the cylinder gap. I want everyone to leave with a smile on their face and the same number of fingers they arrived with.We also try to get some basic markmanship skills started, such as stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger management.

Scott come on out again and we will get you shooting on the move, drawing, making mag changes, shooting strong hand and weak hand and teach recoil management--then have you shoot a match and show everyone your stuff.

I would like to see a wheeling event out in Lake Havasu. Great wheeling, shooting, boating and camping.

.50 caliber....and no I didn't have an opportunity to use it!

Next time we will bring out a few bruisers . 50BMG, 50 Beowulf, and a 454 casull. Then we will be calling you ,"Dirty Scott--make my day."
