If all goes well next week I'll be in a good area with adequate equipment to actually join in the net with a real live radio for a change.

Quick question about check-ins...
When I am able, should I be checking in as a "guest"? And, what is it that makes one a "guests" vs. everyone else?

Re: Quick question about check-ins...
If your name is on the list, you are considered a regular check in and you will be called during the regular check in section. If not you are a guest. If you are checking in for the first time, you should check in as a guest.
Once you check in as a guest, you will be on the list as a regular check in the following week. The more often you check in (successive weeks) the higher you get placed on the regular check in list. If you miss 3 (or 4 ?) weeks in a row, you get dropped off the list and must recheck in as a guest.
It's a highly competitive system

Re: Quick question about check-ins...
The first time you check in you are a guest. After that if you check in at least every 4 weeks you will stay on the roll call. And even if your name is not call during the roll call, you can check in when we ask for late or missed checkin. I put you on the list last night. So you are no longer a new guest!!!!
See you on the Trail!

Re: Quick question about check-ins...
This is a good strategy of checking-in . The things would go on smoothly hereafter.
