ABSP Wildflower Run?

Post by socal_rubi » Fri Feb 19, 2010 2:12 pm

Well, It's almost that time again. I spoke to someone at the Desert Center today and she said that the best time to come would be in a week to 10 days.

This year I want to make a trip that's geared towards taking photo's. I would still want to do a bit of wheeling, as long as were there, but I want to spend most of the time taking photo's and driving around looking for photo ops. I don't have any firm plans yet, dates, or duration of the trip. I thought I would see what interest is out there before I try to plan it.

So lets hear it. Anyone up for a wildflower photo run? Lets hear your thoughts on dates and if you want to make it a day run or overnight run.

Update: My inside source in AB says he thinks the best weekend to go will be the second weekend in March (13th & 14th)

A photo trip is definitely a good idea. Is the first weekend in March too late?

Well, 10 days from today would be right between the last weekend of Feb (27th & 28th) and the first weekend of Mar (6th & 7th). So we could probably go either way. I would expect that at some point there willl be crowds of people out there with the same idea. So I'm not opposed to a weekday trip. Let's wait and see if anyone else posts up with their schedules, and try to work it out from there. My schedule is wide open, so any dates work for me.

Same for me.

I'm sure my wife would love getting out there in the flowers with her new camera lens. Coyote Canyon is usually a good area but can get pretty crowded when the flowers start blooming, so if you want to get away from the masses you can also head up along the old historic Truckhaven Trail just north of hwy S22.

It get so very crowded on the weekends. The last time I went on a weekend it was not any fun around coyote. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. As a matter of fact, it was the time I saw Braden on my way out and even got stopped by the female ranger. I would be up for a truckhaven area run or weekday depending on my schedule.
