Anyone Use A 7D?

Post by ssc » Sat May 29, 2010 10:09 pm

Just ordered a 7D. I have read all the threads on all the camera forums. I think it will be a step up from my 40D--which i may sell. I have bought books on the 7D. Anyone here shooting with a 7D? If so, your thoughts on the AF among other items.

Can't say much on a 7D. I own an older 1D Mk 2 myself but I do know a thing or two about lenses. I own 14mm, 15mm, 100mm macro, 24 T&S, 17-40, 16-35II, 24-70, 24-105, 70-200, 300 with all of them except for the 100mm being L series. :D

I am set for lenses for 99% of what I do, though a macro would be nice. 17-40L, 24-105L, 70-200IS f-4 L, 100-400IS L and a kit lens somewhere. Could have used a 10-22 in China.

I was a bit torn between the 7D and the 1DM4. I just like the crop of 1.6 for what I shoot, and it was cheaper. :D

I want to pick up either a MIV OR MK5 when it comes out but I'm sure the 7D will take great pictures and movies too! The lens you want is the 16-35 MkII zoom, I live it. Let's see your pictures from China. Here are mine taken a few years ago: http://www.alongdesire.com/china1.htm

The 16 would not have been wide enough, considering the crop for the birdcage. I will post some China shots in a few.

Your 10-20 Zoom works out to 107 degrees, I have a 15mm Horizontal Fisheye that goes to 180 degrees. That should be wide enough.

I don't have a 7D, but I want one. I too have read alot about it and have heard nothing bad.

I am glad to hear that canon has finally given us the Av/Tv priority setting. That's the one where you set the ap and ss and it adjusts the ISO.

I think with modern sensors that now makes sense. Not sure it would have a few years ago.
