Fire behind my uncle's house in Spring Valley.

Post by BorregoWrangler » Sun Sep 19, 2010 12:31 pm

It was really cool watching all the firefighters and equipment at work putting out the flames. The fire came right up to my uncle and aunt's house in Spring Valley yesterday.

A 50 to 60 acre brush fire that threatened a Spring Valley mobile home park and dozens of homes was contained with no injuries Saturday afternoon. The roof of one house was damaged.

The blaze, which began about 12:30, temporarily displaced 150 residents of the Lamplighter Village mobile home park before firefighters contained the blaze at about 3:30 p.m.

Flying embers ignited the roof of a nearby home and caused about $60,000 in damage, said Leonard Villarreal, spokesman for the San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District.

Flames burned within 30 yards of the Carriage Hills neighborhood.

Jamacha Boulevard was closed between highway 94 and Sweetwater Springs Boulevard for about three hours while 90 firefighters fought the blaze, using 10 engines, a bulldozer, three helicopters and two airtankers.

Area residents who had been evacuated to a nearby church were allowed back into their homes Saturday afternoon, officials with Cal Fire said.

That last picture with the fireman and the little girl is art worthy. It says a lot. :)

I must be blind as I'm just now seeing this. Glad to hear all is well. Must have been crazy and cool at the sometime to watch all the action. Your last image of the firefighter and your cousin is just epic. I love those moments.
