Pacific Princess

I always take the camera with me to the range. You never know what you may see. We also use it to help with recoil management and grip issues. I was lucky to have had it handy when the Pacific Princess flew over. She is a B-25 from Chino. The down side is that I was not set for a prop plane, so the speed was a bit too fast and she didn't make a second pass.

Great shot Steve. Here's a little history on the sweetheart you snapped a shot of.

"Ex-Catch 22 B-25 Mitchell Serial Number N9856C ("Pacific Princess") was purchased by Ted Itano 1971 and, years later, Aero Trader in CHino, CA worked out an agreement to maintain the B-25 in return for flight privileges. Purchased by Carl Scholl, Tony Ritzman and Bruce Graham in 2005. Still flies as Pacific Princess." -AeroTrader Website

Aero Trader restores vintage military planes. It is located in Chino, CA. They have a bone yard of old WWII plans waiting to be restored or used for parts out near Ocotillo Wells in the middle of nowhere that I've been meaning to check out.

Starting the week of April 18th I will be a volunteer restoration mechanic for the Marine Corps Aviation museum at the Miramar airbase ("The Flying Leatherneck Museum"). My first project is a B-25 Mitchell. We are only taking her to museum quality but it would be cool to take her all the way back to airworthy status. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to work on some artifacts of real history. It's going to allow me to expose my son and daughter to some really cool things. I would love my son or my daughter got into aviation.

Great info Ollie and sounds like fun. If and when you go to the boneyard, post up ahead of time. I would like to see it. No airshows today, so I stopped by an RC field. Amazing what they can do these days. Check it out:
