I finally made it to the Chino air museum, planes of fame. It was a a nice way to spend a few hours. They have a great many planes and many are original and fly. They had a buzz bomb, a bird dog ( think Gene Hackman and Danny Glover) and a B-17 they are restoring. Also got to see the P-51 and Lightning.
Cheers, Steve

Nice. I have been wanting to take the family to the museum at March AFB for some time.

Very nice....It is amazing to see how the older aircraft were constructed, considering the difference in technology available to engineers today - slide rules, mock-ups, theories, and test pilots, where now you have theoretical physics, 3-D modeling software, advanced composite materials, and computer simulators...

Awesome pictures Steve. I am an aviation nut. Love the history and I love flying. I've been flying since I was 6 when my grandfather got me hooked by taking me up in his Piper Cub. He had two hangers on his farm. He is infatuated with military planes and their history. The P-51 was his favorite. He has an engine from one in one of his hangers that he rebuilt and has setting on an engine stand.
I've posted the pics of the B-25 I'm working on my Facebook page. I'll have to start a thread here somewhere to show its progress.

They had many planes in all different stages of restoration. It was a nice place to visit. I have been to March AFB, but don't recall the planes. It may be time for a visit--plus it is just over the hill from the house. Maybe we can set a day aside to hit a few places--Chino and March, maybe Mystic lake etc. Ollie post up some pictures. My son in law is at Fort Rucker in flight school. I am looking forward to visiting and getting some pics of the helo's.

Re: Chino Air Museum
next time you are out there you should also check out the Yankee Air Museum, also at Chino Airport. I like the Planes of Fame better, but it is also pretty nice. On a side note, the Planes of Fame airshow is this weekend.
