Route Description:
Fun & easy, winding scenic route from just outside Stagecoach Trails Group Campsite heading eastward on Pinyon Mountain Road towards the Pinyon Mountains and infamous "Squeeze". There are just a couple of rocky areas and a section of narrow culvert but both are easy to navigate. Two wheel drive is acceptable with high clearance.
Trail Description:
The hiking trail begins with a moderate to strenuous 250' to 300' elevation gain then immediately flattens to a moderate hike for rest of the route. It is recommended that you bring 1 to 2 liters of water, light snacks/lunch, hat & sunscreen. We will break for lunch at the summit which has wonderful panoramic views of Salton Sea and the surrounding area. The trail is well marked however if you plan to divert or leave the group for any reason a GPS and Topo Map of the area is highly recommended.
* Participants should be in good physical condition and be capable of carrying a day pack over a moderate grade for a round trip total of 4 to 6 miles.
