Hi all,
I just picked up my new wrangler unlimited, having a 2" lift and some 33" rubber put on and then out and about as from Tuesday this coming week. Will post some pics when I get her.
Quick question for anyone in or around CA , some recommendations on where to go for some fun but not hard off roading would be great and most appreciated.
Am thinking of Coyote flats this weekend coming, just me the dog and the clear air and wilderness !!!
Thanks.

Re: Newbie in Bay Area
Welcome.....
Coyote Flats is a beautiful area to just chill (pun intended for this time of year). It's hard to go wrong in the Eastern Sierra......
I was just up in that area in mid-July. We go each year; this year we headed to Funnel Lake & Bottom Lake. There is a trip report by Dave here:

Re: Newbie in Bay Area
Thank you John.
Do you know if I will need any kind of permit to head up there ? For driving, camping, fire etc ?
I did see that report and it looks awesome, in fact reading that report is what promted me to had there for my first off road outing.
And you mention it may be cold up there this time of year ? As in bring some layers cold or your going to freeze your a** off cold ? Either way I still going, I am British after all and the cold means nothing to us !!
Thanks agin for the info.

Welcome to OAUSA.
When time permits, you might want to check out the run report section to get an idea of other trips that are near you, see: viewforum.php?f=32. Also, give some thought to joining us for Borrego Fest in October. There will be several runs and a lot to see and do.

Welcome to the forum! Hopefully we'll see your new Jeep in action out on the trails soon.
I'm sure Coyote Flats would be great this time of year. I've been wanting to get out there myself. Another nice area to check out is Monache Meadows.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you aboard. BorregoFest would be the perfect place to put that new Jeep through its paces.
