Howdy,
I'm new here. Just moved back to SoCal (Antelope Valley) after spending the last 4 1/2 years in Seattle. Glad to be back!
A friend in Seattle introduced me to offroading in a Jeep. It was pretty cool and I enjoyed the social aspect of it. I'm into exploring and would love to do some here. Current off-road worthy vehicles are a F-150 4x4 and a KTM 625 SXC dual sport motorcycle (basically, an enduro bike with license plate). I'm also planning on getting my ham radio license this year.
To pay the bills and keep me out of trouble (mostly), I work as a flight test engineer at Edwards AFB.
I also have an interest in aviation archaeology and would love to get involved with that.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Welcome aboard!
It's good to see another member from the Antelope Valley area. I'm located in Tehachapi and also work at the base.
Be sure to check out the links for Summerfest/Field Day. This year it will be held near Fraiser Park so it's close by for us.

Mike:
Welcome back to So Cal and welcome to OAUSA.
Since you are planning to get your Ham ticket and also have a capable 4x4, you should see about joining us for Summer Fest and Field day on the weekend of June 21-23. The testing will be on Sunday and on both Friday and Saturday, there will be trail runs in the local mountains.

Welcome to OAUSA, Mike !!!
You'll be close to our OAUSA Field Day / Summerfest on June 21-23, held in the Los Padres Nat'l Forest near Fraizer Park...we'll be offering ham radio license testing, as well as a 24-hour demonstration of what amateur radio can do...and we'll have a great group of folks camping there, so it's a lot of fun if you can join us

Welcome to the site and back to SoCal!
So does aviation archaeology involve crash sites? I know there's a few around here that can be found with a bit of research.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. I'll see if I can get June 21 off from work. Sounds like fun.
And, yes, the aviation archeology would include old crash sites (preferably ones where the crew walked away or bailed out) as well as abandoned aerospace sites/facilities.
Any old Nike/Ajax missile sites around here? I saw one in New England a number of years back and some of the Army buildings were still in place. It was interesting.
