Since Rebecca and I got our General tickets we decided to reward ourselves. I picked up a Kenwood TS-2000X with Kenwood power supply and Kenwood desk mic. We'll be checking into the next net with it instead of one of the Baofeng UV-5RA's. We had a really good summer using them outside on the breeze way when it was hot. Now we'll have a nice shack set up starting with the Kenwood. I looked at a lot of rigs and I really liked the ICOM 718 but it didn't do 6 meter or VHF/UHF and I already plan on a couple of quad band mobiles for the truckks. Now we can take the Kenwood camping with us and have some fun. I also like the idea of being able to use the HT's around the property with the Kenwood set up as a crossband repeater.
