Ken from Menifee
Hi everyone, just joined the forum and I'm hoping to meet some locals in the southern California area for some outdoor adventures. I just started studying for my technician license, I've always have wanted to pursue the ham hobby but just have not gotten around to it. I enjoy camping and moderate off road adventures in my SE 4runner with my teardrop trailer, even though I have not done too much off road, hopefully I can find some like minded folks to enjoy this with.

Welcome to Outdoor Adventure, USA, KenC !!!
I think you'll find quite a few like-minded folks in this group - including all levels of off-roaders, ham radio operators, and camping enthusiasts.
Our next formal event is the 2015 OAUSA SummerFest, in Los Padres National Forest, June 28-30. We will be participating in the annual Field Day, and we will also be conducting ham radio testing on Sunday (in case if you haven't earned your "ticket" by then).
We hope you will be able to join us there

Thank you for the welcome to the forum and the invitation to the SummerFest Larry, looks like a fun and informative time. I'll certainly try and make the event.cruiserlarry wrote:Welcome to Outdoor Adventure, USA, KenC !!!

Hey Ken
Welcome to OAUSA!!
Larry's suggestion is a great way to get an introduction to our activities. We strive to combine a great appreciation of the outdoors with ham radio and 4 wheel drive adventures. If you are not licensed by the time Summer Fest rolls around, we will be offering testing at the camp, during that weekend.
Also, I will be doing a couple of 3-4 day trips to areas here in SoCal this year, with, perhaps, one before Summer Fest. Check out our Adventure Planning section to get details of upcoming trips, see viewforum.php?f=31 .
If you have a 2 Meter Ham radio, you can listen to our weekly nets. Once you are licensed, you can participate. Details of the nets can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=174&t=3722 .
See you on the trail (and the nets).

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the warm welcome as well, I don't have a radio yet but plan on buying one as soon as I pass the technicians exam. I do listen to the nets through the downloads and find them informative. I'm looking forward to becoming part of the group and participate in the events you all have.
