2008-08-02 Carveacre Road (aka carnacre, tire basher)

Well, since I couldn't join Frogeye's Sunday run, Steve and I went out and ran Carveacre on Saturday. I swear, you cant run this trail without something happening to someone. :(

Coming down off of pancake rock, we had a tire come off the bead. As I was heading down and all flexed out, I heard a series of two short "ssssss" coming from the front driver's tire (the one that was stuffed). I guess I was lucky because the bead held.

Steve wasn't so lucky. His ended up letting go. Luckily we were able to backup and go a different line and change directions. Once on flat ground, we changed to the spare.

On the way home we stopped at discount tire and they quickly reset the bead and filled the tire, all without having to remove it from the rear carrier. Love those guys.

Anyway, here are a few pics. I'll have some more once I get them from Steve.

As we were airing up, the marines showed up on their day off:

He's got a lot more guts than me to take a brand new $40k full size truck on that trail. From what I understand, none of them have been on that trail before. :o

More to come....

That trail never fails to catch you off guard... I'm glad Steve got out OK. I will say this... it is not wise to run this trail solo. :( Looks like it was fun though.

Nice trip, guys! I was almost able to get out there but got caught with a honey do list. :(

Yeah, I don't think I'll be heading up there solo anymore since my last trip up there almost had me walking home!

Not so. He is a very competent driver. and a blast to wheel with. Sometimes things just happen. Especially on this trail...

Well, I've had three flats while wheeling and all three have been with this group. Luckily this time, I just popped a bead. If I had my CO2 setup, I could have fixed it on the trail.
I haven't been on Carveacre since last summer. I don't know what is different specifically, but it seems to be getting more difficult. I think there are more ruts they are getting bigger.

dont worry. as steve mentioned........he had tire issues 3 times with this group....seems i was there 2 of the 3 times so i just laugh along with him. he knows i was kidding around. i've wheeled many times with steve and he will take that jeep more places than i'd ever think of going with my FJ. hes extremely capable and definately a blast to wheel with.

why is everyone on this new OAUSA so dang sensitive? :)

Looks like a blast as usual. Hopefully my rig will be fixed this week so I can make some runs.
