Several 4WD trips for 2023

Here is a list of multi-day trail rides I have planned. If you are interested email me (Robert Lamishaw) at rlamishaw@yahoo.com and I will put you on the mailing list.

1. February 25-28 (Saturday to Tuesday) This Death Valley trip will be a bit different. I’m thinking that I’d like to avoid most of the usual spots and explore some of the more remote portions of northern DV getting up into the Inyo National Forest, north of the park. The plan would be to start on Saturday (2/25 from US 395 (Lone Pine or maybe Big Pine) head east and explore some of the less visited points of interest over less traveled roads. As parts of DV area may still be closed in late February we will have to be flexible, however, I am sure we’ll find some interesting trails to travel and places to explore.

If this sounds good to you and you can get the time off work let me know, I’ll keep those who express and interest updated as things develop.

2. April 2-5, New Idria. This is roughly between US 5 and 101 about as far north as Fresno. It is an easy to moderate trip. Should be very pretty country side with lots of rolling hills, mines, old buildings, etc. Some permits will be required with about $20 in park and State entry and use fees. I’ll send those who RSVP links to get all the permits out of the way.

3. May 11-13, Historic Mojave Trail. This is an infrequently visited section of the Historic Mojave Trail basically east and west of Hwy 15 roughly between Baker and the Nevada Boarder. It is an easy to moderate trail with some optional challenging pitches.

4. June 24-July 4th, Idaho Backcountry Traverse. This is a 10 day, plus you should allow for at least 1 or 2 days for travel to and from the start/end points. So you are basically looking at 2 weeks include all highway travel time. The trip will start east of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and end east of Boise Idaho. For those with more time there is an optional off-road route that goes further south through Idaho and into Nevada, giving you an extra two or three days of off-roading.

5. Sept 1 – 4 Lost Sierra Trail. This is the area south of Lake Tahoe in the Sierra’s. Some of these trails are a little more challenging but nothing a good OHV with clearance, off-road tires, etc. shouldn’t be able to handle This trail is listed as being moderate to a bit more challenging but will be in some of the prettiest areas in the Sierra Nevada mountains. We won’t be doing anything too difficult but expect lots of rocks and tight twisty trails.
