It appears a big name in California gun show promotions has won an important lawsuit that ban gun shows from being held on state lands. Here's more:

The promoter heard back from their attorneys regarding their lawsuit with the State of California and the Judge ruled in favor of the promoter! The Honorable John W Holcomb ruled that state agencies or employees may not enforce the Penal Codes that have previously prohibited the sale of firearms or ammunition on state property.

He also ruled that the promoter may request dates for gun shows at the Orange County Fair and Expo Center and that these requests must be honored, so long as the requested dates are available.

In accordance with the Judge’s ruling, there have been requested dates for the Orange County Fair and Expo Center. There are no dates available through the end of 2023 but a request for a full schedule in 2024 has been made. It is likely that the State of California will appeal Judge Holcomb’s decision to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The attorneys expect the case will be ruled on by the U.S. Circuit relatively quickly.

The promoter is expecting to get contracts in place before that appeal takes place but that depends on the Board of Directors approving those contracts in a timely manner.

In summary, this is good news but there may be a continued battle if and when the state appeals this ruling; more to follow.
