Little Corona is at the end of Pepper St. Here's a couple of photos. Sorry for the quality...I'm still learning how to use my new dive camera

Were these pics taken recently? I ask because we've had a good swell now for over a week and the vis doesn't look too bad.

Contrary to common belief Sheepshead are pretty good eating but since they grow so slowly I avoid hunting them .

These photos were taken this morning, 10/10/08. The viz was variable but typically pretty good. About 10' on average.

I've found the best viz in Laguna is at Moss St. But the waves were so big there today we decided on plan B, which turned out to be a great dive! Hardly any surge at Little Corona.

What equipment are you using to photograph underwater?

Equipment? I went as cheap as I could, which is a relative term with digital dive cameras!

I use an Olympus FE-280 in a dive housing. It's almost neutral bouyant, and very easy to handle under water (unlike the FLOAT my last camera was). Battery life is quite good. Not a bad little camera (I use it for backpacking too) but the shutter lag under water is quite annoying. That's what ruined most of the shots on this dive.

"Oh look, a fish!" <Steady, hold breath, push shutter> <fish swims off> *CLICK* $#@&*!

I've read on a diver's forum that I can probably use a lower resolution and speed things up. It runs 8 M-pixels out of the box, which is more than enough for my purposes. I'll try to trim the files down next dive.

Lighting is provided by my dive buddy's (my youngest son) monsterous aircraft landing light that he dives with! It's incandescent, and underwater does a decent job of color correction. It's most obvious on the photo of the star. Also, it's so far off-axis I never have to worry about backscatter!

...and I do admit, used PhotoShop to pump up the orange on that garibaldi!

Cool pics, you have to get out to some of the Channel Islands if you have not already. I miss diving. Allergies and a bad Eustachian tube don't allow me to do it anymore. This is a pic from one of the last free diving trips I did to Cortez Banks 6 years ago.

Dang! Are those all yellows or do I see some white sea bass mixed in there? Hard to tell. Either way nice trip!
