2008-11-20: Who's HUNGRY? (Camp Cooking)

Post by traveltoad » Mon Nov 17, 2008 9:39 pm

This Thursday join us as we jump out of the pot and into the fire... the cooking fire that is! That's right, this Thursday we are going to talk turkey about cooking on the trail. As an added bonus (or maybe as the star attraction) BruceB will introduce us to Solar Cooking!

So please join us Thursday evening (11/20/08) at 7:30pm with your ideas, questions, tips or tails of lessons learned.

******************************************************************************************************************************************************************
We had 23 check in on Thursdays evening, including some poeple who had not checked in for a while and a couple newcomers! It is really great to be a part of the growing OAUSA family!

Our "Who's Hungry" net built upon our first cooking net (7/31/08) and discussed tips to help people get started trail cooking. Some of the tips were for the total novice, others for those with some experience. We also discussed some of the basic tools found in a camp cook kit.

Two website were mentioned as being good places to find camping recipes:

BruceB also introduced us to Solar cooking. He had lots of information regarding this low-tech "all natural" cooking method.

A couple websites for more information of solar cooking:

Folks should "gobble" this one up...
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear really bright, until they start talking
