12/06/2008 Desert Run (Jacumba or ABSP)
Thinking about either heading out to the Table Mountain / Elliot Mine area in Jacumba or out to Sandstone Canyon this Saturday.
Anyone interested?
Probably meet up at the McDonalds on Los Coches Rd in Lakeside between 7:00 - 7:30 AM. Figured we should get an early start due to the short days.
Head out hwy.8 and either stop in Jacumba and do Table Mtn / Elliot Mine or go to the S2 and up to Canyon Sin Nombre, Arroyo Seco Del Diablo, Diablo Droppoff, and up Sandstone Canyon. If we do Sandstone, I would like to go pretty far back into the canyon.
Highly recommend a few inches of lift and armor (rock rails and skid plates) for Sandstone Canyon. Mild lift and rock rails for Jacumba. Off road tires for both.
Bring lots of water and food.
CB: Channel 23
2m repeater: Otay - 146.640 107.2
ALT: Palomar + 147.030 103.5 if Otay is being used.
2m Simplex: 147.510
Please post up if interested.

I've never been to table mountain and would love to check it out. Unfortunately, I already have plans for Saturday.

Sorry you guys cant make it. It's going to be fun.
As of now, it looks like we're leaning towards the Jacumba area instead of ABSP.

Hey,
I might come alone or with somebody. I have never been to Lakeside. Is the Mickey deez close to the 8? Are you going overnight?

The McDonalds is on the south side of the 8 on Los Coches road.
Here are some maps:

Probably the best way to get there if you are not familiar with the area is to take the 15S to 52E to 125S to 8E to Los Coches Road. The 52 will turn into the 125, so just stay on the freeway.
I'll PM you my phone number, so give me a call. If you want to meet up and caravan, I can meet you at the 125 and Navajo Rd. around 6:45. Let me know.
We are only planning a day trip, no camping.
Hope to see you there!
