I've seen them on three occasions. At Carrizo Mountain, then along the Old Mountain Springs Stagecoach Trail, and then here along Highway 78 at the Narrows.gon2srf wrote:I've been to Anza a dozens times and have yet to spot a mountain goat. Nice sighting and pics Ollie.

Dont feel bad Scott, I've never seen any big horns either, and I've been out there quite a few times as well. I have, however, seen a few asses, that should count for something!

I have seen a few bighorn sheep. Saw one on the north side of Big Bear. Seen them in AZ, NV, CO etc.I have seen plenty of 2 and 4 legged asses also.
I have never seen a "Mountain Goat" in California, as I do not think their habitat is here. However, if they are here, I want to get a picture.
I do have friends that have hunted for them and it is a difficult, physically demanding hunt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_goat

They are hard to find when you are looking. Here is part of a herd from Death Valley, the total number was about 35. These are the Nelson Bighorn Sheep. In Anza Borrego we have the Peninsular Bighorn Sheep.
